I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT #106913) based in California and also hold a license (LMFT #204409) in Texas. A graduate of Chapman University in 2007 with a Bachelor’s in Psychology and Brandman University with a Master of Arts in Psychology with an Emphasis on Marriage and Family Therapy in 2011. I have experience counseling individuals, families, and conducting groups with particular interests in late adolescents and adults. My previous employment was with adults in the Calworks/GAIN program who have mental health barriers to college education, training, and employment. Also, through the program l worked with those who are homeless, victims and survivors of domestic violence, and in substance use recovery. I had the pleasure of working for a group practice for 4 years servicing individual adults, late adolescents, and families. My previous experience at a county contracted agency counseling children and adolescents with anxiety, depression, self-harm, suicidal behaviors, and adjustment issues. My practicum training included counseling males at a substance abuse recovery center with maintaining sobriety. I also spent many years as a Social Worker helping the elderly and disabled population by obtaining resources to assist with domestic and personal care needs, providing support to caregivers, and investigating abuse cases.
My career as a Therapist, Social Worker, and a community volunteer has allowed me to work with diverse populations and become culturally sensitive to particular needs. Examples include college students, BIPOC, and LGBTQIA+ communities. Many of the clients I have worked with have experienced anxiety, depression, grief/loss, life transitions, career obstacles, caregiver stress, self-harming, low self-esteem, codependency, academic underachievement, and the need for effective coping skills.
As a compassionate therapist whose main focus is to help my clients through self-determination. My belief is that identifying one’s own inner strength is the catalyst to overcoming obstacles in daily life. A variety of treatment modalities are used to tailor the specific needs of the client including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Client Centered, Solution-Focused, Strength-Based and Mindfulness Based techniques. I look forward to assisting you through your journey towards increased wellness.
